Devon O'Brien is a Los Angeles-based playwright. Her full-length plays include: Flight Plan, American Portraits, Anna by Savannah, and Cake. Flight Plan was produced at The Court Theater in Los Angeles. A workshop of the play, starring Anne Heche and Kate Walsh, was recently presented in Los Angeles. Flight Plan was also read at Naked Angels, LA. American Portraits, based on the images of American painter John Singer Sargent (1856-1925) and the words of American playwright Clyde Fitch (1864-1909)was workshopped at The InterAct Theater in North Hollywood and at Shakespeare & Co, in Lenox, MA, directed by Tina Packer; presented in London at The Royal Academy; presented at The National Portrait Gallery in London (May 2015); workshopped at The Anteaus Theater Company in their Classics Fest (July 2015). Readings of Anna by Savannah have been presented at The Blank Theater and The Rogue Machine Theater; a workshop was presented at Skylight Theater. Cake won the Jerome Lawrence Play Festival at The University of Southern California and was presented at The 24th Street Theater. Cake has received readings at The Rogue Machine and The Wilshire Ebell Theater. Cake was workshopped at The Actors Studio, Playwrights/Directors Unit. 21/31/41, an evening of one-acts, was presented at The Rogue Machine Theater. Her screenplay, Three Girls Hunting, was comissioned by an independent producer. Devon has a B. A. in Semiotics from Brown University, and an MPW (Masters in Professional Writing) from The University of Southern California. O'Brien has published features in The Los Angeles Times, essays in Vogue, a novella and poems on The Huffington Post.
